Banksia marginata,also known as silver banksia occurs naturally throughout south-eastern Australia. It is a hardy, fast growing and long lived species that can be grown in a wide variety ofenvironments.It is tolerant of light frost, is drought resistant and will do well in exposed windy locations. Prefers a sunny or partly shady position, it may become spindly if grown in the shade. Favours well-drained soils, but can tolerate moist and even waterlogged sites.. The large yellow cylindrical flowers, borne from spring to autumn, are a stunning feature to the tree and attract native birds and pollinators.
